Skysports.com exclusively broke the news of Boro's pursuit of the 25-year-old, who has arrived from Beerschot on a free transfer.
Haroun has penned a three-year deal at the Riverside and goes straight into their squad for the clash with Birmingham City this weekend.
Boro boss Tony Mowbray said: "It's good to get the deal completed. Faris has looked good in training.
"He's fit and athletic, has a love of the game and is full of enthusiasm."
