Young midfielder keen to put injury woes behind him

Blackpool midfielder Chris Basham is hoping to make a fresh start at Bloomfield Road after injury ruined his debut season at the club. The 22-year-old was signed by Pool manager Ian Holloway last summer but suffered a broken leg three months into the Seasiders' Premier League campaign. Holloway's men were relegated to the Championship at the end of last term, and former Bolton man Basham is looking forward to showing what he can do when their new season in the second tier begins. "It's been the most excited I've been for a long time," he told the club's official website. "This is my fourth pre-season now but it's my most exciting one because it's a fresh start for me. "I'm looking forward to getting back fighting fit so that I'm match-fit for the first game against Hull. He added: "To kick-on I need to have a good season, there's no doubt about that. "That's why I'm so excited about it because I know what I can do and I need to now put my boots on and show everybody at Blackpool."
