Seasiders stars could stay

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston will do all he can to keep David Vaughan, Matt Gilks and Stephen Crainey.

Chairman planning to talk terms with Vaughan, Gilks and Crainey

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston will do all he can to keep David Vaughan, Matt Gilks and Stephen Crainey at the club. The trio have played an integral part in the Seasiders' success over recent years and have seen their reputations enhanced as a result. They are now considered to be capable Premier League performers, having previously been cast aside or overlooked by top-flight sides. Unfortunately for Blackpool, all three are set to see their current contracts at Bloomfield Road expire this summer. Oyston concedes that they may decide to head for pastures new, but insists there are plans in place for extension discussions to be held. "The situation is that we will do all we can to keep them within the structure we've got," he told the Blackpool Gazette.

Options

"It is wonderful these lads have so many options. They fully deserve to have them and the interest people are showing. "We will do the best we can and hope that is enough to keep the players the manager wants to try to keep. "By the same token, you always accept in football that players come and go. Players will progress through their careers and see their future elsewhere. "When that happens, it is up to myself and the manager to keep bringing players in to keep the club going in the direction we all want." Blackpool are currently 18th in the Premier League with one game left to play in their battle to avoid relegation. They go into Sunday's clash with champions Manchester United at Old Trafford level on points with 17th-placed Birmingham and a point behind Wolves in 16th and Blackburn in 15th.
