Notts County player of the year midfielder Neal Bishop has signed a new two-year contract.

Manager Martin Allen revealed the news at the club's end-of-season awards night on Tuesday. "People need to recognise that he has not been fit for four or five weeks and has not always trained, but he has continued to lead the team and he has been absolutely superb," said Allen. "He has agreed a new two-year contract, we have shook hands on it and he has signed. It is great news for the football club." As well as winning both the players' Player of the Year and the Supporters' Player of the Year awards, Bishop also claimed the goal of the season accolade for his famous header against Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth round.
