Skysports.com understands Blackpool boss Ian Holloway watched Marcus Tudgay in action for Sheffield Wednesday against Scunthorpe.
Holloway missed Blackpool's Carling Cup defeat to MK Dons on Tuesday so that he could go on a scouting mission to Scunthorpe.
It is believed Tudgay was the focus of Holloway's attention at Glandford Park as he desperately tries to bolster his attacking options.
Holloway has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in a new striker missing out on several targets this summer.
Blackpool have held a long-term interest in Tudgay and are understood to have had one bid already rejected for the former Derby man this summer.
However, Holloway is now weighing up a new move for Tudgay as he looks to bring in another frontman before the close of the transfer window next week.
Wednesday are keen to keep hold of Tudgay, but they could find it hard to reject a sizeable offer for the striker.
