Chesterfield have agreed a deal to sign unsettled Colchester United midfielder David Perkins on a one-month loan. Perkins joined Colchester in the summer of 2008 from Rochdale, but has struggled to adapt to living in the area. The 27-year-old handed in a transfer request in August and has made just five substitute appearances in League One this season. He has now accepted a move to Chesterfield and Spireites boss John Sheridan is looking forward to having Perkins in his squad. Sheridan told the club's official website: "He's a player I was hoping was available and he gives us that balance, and he's a pleasing addition to our side and he wants to come here and that's important." Providing the paperwork is completed in time, Perkins is likely to go straight into the Chesterfield squad for Saturday's League One game at home to Accrington Stanley.
