Birmingham City's Colin Doyle has revealed that he was devastated to be dropped so early on in the season.
The Irish international goalkeeper was a starter in the Blues' first three games of the campaign.
But after a couple of shaky displays Steve Bruce dropped Doyle, excluding him from his squad for the following four Premier League matches.
Maik Taylor took his place in the starting XI, while Richard Kingson was included on the bench.

Doyle admitted that Bruce's decision completely threw him, and for several days he was not as focused as he should have been.
"I was devastated. I wasn't happy maybe for a week or so, to be honest," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"In training, I wasn't my usual self. I wouldn't say I was moaning, but I wasn't training to my normal standards."
But Doyle has now realised that needs to utilise his disappointment as motivation and knuckle down in training.
"I know now that I have just got to work even harder and be ready if I do get my chance again," he added.

"At the end of the day, it was the manager's decision to make the change.
"You can't do anything about that. The only thing I could have done differently was save those shots against Chelsea, then he probably wouldn't have dropped me.
"It's harsh, but we're in the Premier League and you just have to deal with something like this and then come back stronger from it.
"I have to prove to him that, when I do get a chance again, that he was wrong to take me out of the team."
