Football League new boys Morecambe have signed Matthew Blinkhorn on a permanent deal from Blackpool.

The striker impressed in scoring eight goals in 12 appearances for Morecambe during a loan spell in the Conference last season.

He was offered a contract extension at Blackpool, but has turned down a deal with Simon Grayson's side to accept a two-year offer from Morecambe.

Blackpool will be entitled to compensation for Blinkhorn, with the fee to be decided by an independent tribunal, if the two clubs are unable to reach an agreement.

Blinkhorn told the club's official website: "I had a great time at Morecambe last year. It helped that I scored so early on my debut, but I always felt a real part of the side and I can't wait to see all the lads again.

"I have been at Blackpool since I was nine, but now is the time to move on.

"I am at the stage of my career where I want to play week in, week out and I can't wait for pre-season to start.''

Meanwhile, Morecambe defender Danny Adams has signed a new two-year contract, having originally joined the club from Huddersfield Town in February.
