Clarke suitors warned off

Blackpool have warned off parties interested in signing Peter Clarke.

Blackpool have warned off parties interested in signing former Everton defender Peter Clarke.

The arrival of the former England Under-21 international has coincided with an upturn in The Seasiders' form and the club are keen to retain his services.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has praised the 23-year-old performances following his capture from Goodison Park.

However, the club's supremo hinted that a large offer combined with Clarke's ambition could ultimately see him leave Bloomfield Road.

"I've said it many times and I'll say it again, Peter Clarke has turned out to be a fantastic signing as we knew he would be," said Oyston to the club's official website.

"He just always seems to be in the right place at the right time and is very solid.

"It would be dependent on the amount of the offer and on the view of the player, whether he would want to go or not.

"But to my mind it would be a serious backward step for us to ever consider selling Peter because since his arrival our fortunes have really turned the corner."
