LEE JONES has joined Division Two side Blackpool on a month's loan from Stockport County - with a view to a permanent move which could be completed as early as next week.

The goalkeeper was on the bench for The Seasiders as they went down to a 5-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers on the opening day of the season.

Jones suffered an injury in pre-season for The Hatters and it was expected he would miss the start of the new campaign but Blackpool boss Steve McMahon (pictured) has snapped up the shot-stopper to give Phil Barnes some competition in the custodial department.

The Welshman was set to start as Carlton Palmer's number one but the arrival of Nick Colgan on loan from Scottish club Hibernian allowed Jones to leave Edgeley Park.
