A round-up of Saturday's Championship action featuring Huddersfield's action-packed 4-4 draw against Derby County

The promotion race continued in the SkyBet Championship on Saturday with Watford, Bournemouth and Derby all in action.

With Middlesbrough having won away at promotion rivals Norwich on Friday night, the pressure was on both Watford and Bournemouth to keep pace with Aitor Karanka's side.

Watford did just that as Craig Cathcart's second-half strike was enough to send Slavisa Jokanovic's side top of the table above a Bournemouth side who slipped up at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

A goal down to Kieran Lee's fine header, Bournemouth looked to have pulled off a memorable comeback as Matt Ritchie crossed for Yann Kermorgant and then drilled home a stunning long-range effort himself either side of Simon Francis' red card.

The home fans were counting down the seconds to a vital victory in the battle for promotion when Harry Arter fouled substitute Atdhe Nuhiu inside the box. Chris Maguire stepped up and found the bottom corner to stun the sold-out Dean Court crowd.

Elsewhere, there were plenty of goals as play-off chasing Derby were held to a 4-4 draw at Huddersfield, while Brentford also slipped up at home to Bolton.

At the bottom, Wigan kept their slim hopes of survival alive with a 2-1 victory over Brighton thanks to goals from Tim Chow and James Perch.
