Stuart Pearce has discussed possible loan agreements at Nottingham Forest, but is expecting no movement in or out.

Four top targets were identified by the City Ground boss, but he has been unable to bring any onto his books.

He has also fielded enquiries from those looking to take some of his fringe men on short-term deals, with speculation suggesting that Dexter Blackstock and Jamie Paterson may be allowed to head out.

Pearce has, however, sought to play down such reports, with Forest prepared to make it through to the January transfer window with those already at their disposal.

People think it is easy to bring people in on loan. But my mentality is that I am not going to bring somebody in, just to sit on the bench.

He said in the Nottingham Post: “We have had a couple of phone calls about one or two individuals going out of the club, but they have been rejected.

“There is an importance there, when it comes to keeping the squad together, so we have turned those down.

“With regards to players coming in, it is not something I envisage.

“We made enquiries last week on four players, but only wanting one of them. We had no joy and we are not going to go out and sign somebody for the sake of it.

“Each one of those four players, we felt, would be able to come into the team and add something.

“Unless a player could do that, there would be no point in bringing them in to the club.”

He added: “People think it is easy to bring people in on loan. But my mentality is that I am not going to bring somebody in, just to sit on the bench.

“We want players to come here and actually play.”
