Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce is relishing the prospect of renewing an old rivalry against Tottenham.
During his 12-year playing career at the City Ground, the former Reds captain was involved in several memorable clashes with the north London club.
Such encounters saw Forest defeat Spurs over two legs in the semi-final of the League Cup in 1992, before losing to Manchester United in the final.
That victory was revenge for the FA Cup final loss to Tottenham the previous year, in which Pearce scored the opening goal in a 2-1 loss at Wembley.
"It is a game with a lot of history, certainly in my playing days we had some great games," said Pearce.
"It will be a special occasion because we had some fantastic games against them over the years, they are a fantastic side - one of the top five teams in the Premier League. It is a tough tie for us.
"But it is a game we should be looking forward to. Tottenham did very well at the City Ground and we seemed to do well at White Hart Lane. It is a massive game for the club and a great test for us, once again.
"Having been through a few rounds you do expect to get tougher opposition. But this will be an incredible test for us, that is for sure. Tottenham will be firm favourites.
"We would have preferred to play them at home, if we could. We will learn about our players, that is for sure."
