Transfer news: Tom Ince feels Hull City already have goal threat

Tom Ince understands Hull City's striker search but feels that Steve Bruce already has plenty of firepower at his disposal.

Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes emerged as a top target for Hull, but that pursuit has ended after Bruce revealed that a deal is ‘dead and buried’.

Attention will now switch to alternative options, with cover still required for Shane Long following his £12million move to Southampton.

Ince, who is among those charged with the task of supporting and assisting the frontmen at the KC Stadium, concedes that strength in depth would be beneficial but is also of the opinion that Hull have enough of a goal threat to compete in the Premier League and Europa League.

The gaffer has been in and around the market in the last few days looking for a centre forward after losing Longy, but there is enough capability in this team to score goals.

“We are creating chances, it would be a worry if we weren’t.

“We showed at Lokeren we had a good performance but European football can do that to you, it can hit you when it is unexpected.

“We’ve got enough ability to score goals. You could see that with the amount of chances we created.

“It’s something we have to build on for the next leg. We are looking forward to taking them on at home and hopefully putting them to bed. Hopefully we can get a win and move on.”

Ince is confident that those on the books at Hull can prolong a European adventure on Thursday, with a 1-0 deficit needing to be overcome when Belgian side Lokeren visit.

He added: “Our performance in Lokeren shows we’ve come into this tournament and don’t fear anyone. We’ve got some fantastic guys with a lot of ability.

“We are not scared going into the next game.

“We’ll be patient and keep the ball, and when we create chances we will have goalscorers who can put them in the back of the net.”
