Stuart Pearce insists the relationship between himself and Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi is a happy one after claiming that no promises had been broken.

Forest manager Pearce had been critical of the board's decision to sell Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow to Newcastle, before they were loaned back to Forest for the forthcoming season.

However Pearce was full of praise for the club's transfer dealings as they secured the signings of Britt Assombalonga and Michail Antonio from Peterborough and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

He said: "At the start of the week if somebody had of said to me you're going to sell two players to Newcastle and you’re going to get them loaned back for the season, turn that revenue over to the football club and reinvest that money into two players that we have yesterday, would I have done it?

Stuart Pearce says he is comfortable with Nottingham Forest's owners, despite their decision to sell Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow to Newcastle.

"The answer would probably be yes if I'm being honest. I would have done and I think it is very, very good business."

Pearce went on to clarify that his relationship with chairman Al-Hasawi was not tarnished but mentioned that a number of people had fallen short in informing him of the precise details of the club's transfer proceedings.

"We had a little bit of a tete-a-tete myself and the owners' financial people more so than Fawaz," Pearce added.

"He and I didn't have a conversation so he's broke no promises to me in that respect but they consulted me in respect to a possible move, but where they fell short was to tell me that they (Lascelles and Darlow) had actually gone.

"I think we've addressed that early in the week. I'm quite comfortable now with the relationship that we've got and I think they've moved heaven and earth to get me these two players in yesterday and that's improved our squad and hopefully our team."

Assomobalonga, who completed a club-record move from London Road to the City Ground believed to be in the region of £5.5m, has said he is happy to be working with Pearce.

"They come to watch a lot of games so I've been told and when I came into the building he just made me feel welcome and he told how much he admired me when I was at Peterborough," he said.

"He also said he likes working with young players and I'm here now and hopefully I can enjoy my time here."
