Nottingham Forest are to take another look at Bader al-Mutawa and Khalid al-Rashidi as they weigh up the merits of a second work permit application.

The Kuwait internationals impressed during a trial spell at the City Ground over the summer.

Forest's new owners, the Al-Hasawi family, helped to bring the pair to England, with their knowledge of football in their homeland intended to benefit the Reds.

It was hoped that Al-Mutawa and Al-Rashidi could be drafted into Sean O'Driscoll's squad, but they failed to secure work permits.

Forest are refusing to give up on the duo, though, and will take the opportunity to watch them in competitive action before deciding on whether to make a fresh approach in the New Year.

"The Reds are considering re-applying for permits in January and as part of that process O'Driscoll has decided to make a personal check on two of them," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The manager, accompanied by Director of Recruitment and Scouting Keith Burt, will watch them in action as al-Mutawa's Al Qadsia meet al-Rashidi's Al Arabi later today (Monday)."
