Leeds keen on Foxes full-back; Warnock waits on duo

Sky Sports understands Leeds United have made an official approach for Leicester City defender Lee Peltier. The former Liverpool right-back is expected to leave the Foxes this summer, with Leeds and Huddersfield vying for his services. Whites boss Neil Warnock is keen to bolster his defensive options as Paul Connolly is currently on the transfer list. Peltier joined Leicester from the Terriers last summer, but it is understood he no longer features in manager Nigel Pearson's plans. Leeds could now steal a march on their West Yorkshire rivals by making the first move to land the 25-year-old.

Meanwhile, one player set to join Leeds is Portsmouth's Luke Varney, with Warnock hoping to land his man inside the next 24 hours. The striker agreed a two-year deal with the Whites on Monday, while SK Brann midfielder Rodolph Austin needs to return to Jamaica and secure a work permit before completing his move to Elland Road. "Luke should be down in the next 24 hours but Rodolph will need to go home for his work permit and everything else," Warnock told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "But it's important to get him involved as soon as possible, just to give us a couple of weeks to work with him."
