Steve Cotterill: Prepared to bring in another loanee if he can find the right player

Steve Cotterill is hoping to draft one more loan recruit into his Nottingham Forest squad, but admits 'it has to be the right player'.

With the emergency loan window having swung open, clubs once again find themselves in the position of being able to add.

Forest are in desperate need of inspiration from somewhere, with a dire campaign leaving them languishing inside the Championship drop zone.

They have already added four loan signings to their ranks in an effort to bring about a reversal in fortune, and only five are allowed to be named in any given match-day squad, but Cotterill admits they could do with a further injection of quality.

"It is something we might look at. But the only thing is, because we have so many loans already, we can't play all of them if we make too many more," he told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"You can only have five (in your squad). We don't want to waste money on players who are not always going to play.

"With one place available, it has to be the right one. We need to get the next match out of the way, then I might have a better idea of what we need.

Lift

"The ones we have already got might give us a lift.

"Plus it is very difficult just to drop lots of new players into your side all at once. You have to bring them in gently, rather than trying to build a whole new team."

Forest already have Danny Higginbotham, Scott Wootton, Adlene Guedioura and Greg Cunningham on their books, so any further additions will need to be of the highest possible calibre.

"Hopefully Scott (Wootton) and Danny (Higginbotham) will do well. But the wage difference between those two players was huge," added Cotterill.

"Stoke did us a huge favour with Danny and we thank Tony Pulis for that.

"But if we do make any further loans, it has to be the right player."
