Sky Sports understands West Brom are ready to make a move for Nottingham Forest defender Luke Chambers at the end of the season.
Highly-rated stopper Chambers is out of contract at the end of the campaign and is yet to agree a new deal at the City Ground.
West Brom are now readying an offer to lure Chambers to the Hawthorns on a free transfer in the summer.
Baggies boss Roy Hodgson is a big admirer of Chambers and is thought to have expressed an interest in the player during the January transfer window.
A number of clubs were thought to be keen on signing Chambers in January, but the 26-year-old snubbed the chance to move as he is focused on helping Forest secure survival in the Championship.
Chambers is sure to have no shortage of admirers this summer if he sees out his contract at Forest and West Brom are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by winning the race for the central defender.
