Ipswich boss determined not to lose Andrews and Collins

Under-pressure Ipswich manager Paul Jewell is not prepared to allow defender Danny Collins and midfielder Keith Andrews to leave the club without a fight. The on-loan David Stockdale was on Wednesday recalled to Fulham in the wake of Mark Schwarzer's injury, and Ipswich face further loses in personnel. Andrews and Collins are only on loan from Blackburn and Stoke, respectively, but Jewell is determined to keep both players at Portman Road. Jewell wants to keep Andrews on a permanent basis and Blackburn are understood to be keen to sell in January, with Swansea also previously linked with the midfielder.

Interested parties

"We'd like to keep Keith and do a long-term deal," said the Ipswich boss. "But I think there's quite a few interested parties. We would like to be there as well." Jewell would also like to extend Collins' stay after being impressed by the defender in his three-month loan. "I think he's enjoyed it here. He's done well because his wife's had a baby while he's been travelling up and down to Stoke," said Jewell. "He's had a tough time as far as that's concerned and I think he's done really well for us."
