Notts County have signed defender Brendan Moloney from city rivals Nottingham Forest on a six-month loan deal.
Magpies manager Ian McParland has made signing a right-back his priority this summer after the departure of Adam Tann and Phil Picken's return to Chesterfield following his loan spell last term.
McParland insists he has been a fan of Moloney's for some time and had it not been for a lack of funds, the Republic of Ireland international could have arrived at Meadow Lane a year ago.
After a brief spell on loan at Rushden at the beginning of last season the 20-year-old went on to make 12 appearances in the Championship last season.
"Brendan is a very promising young player and he has been a target of mine for a while," he told the club's official website.
"In fact I tried to get him last season but we couldn't finalise a deal.
"It's nice to have finally landed him and I believe we have a player on our hands who is more than capable of performing at this level.
"When I saw him play for Forest's first-team last season I thought he was one of their best players.
"I have always kept my eye on him and I am really pleased to have him on board."
