Nottingham Forest midfielder Paul Evans has suffered a setback in his attempts to return to the first team.
The 29-year-old has been diagnosed with a torn muscle in his hip after picking up the injury with Forest's reserves earlier this month.
The former Bradford City player has not featured for Forest's first team this season, having spent time on loan at League One rivals Rotherham United back in November.
After falling out of favour under former boss Gary Megson, Evans was hoping for a fresh chance from joint caretaker bosses Frank Barlow and Ian McParland.
With Evans's injury being a muscle tear, it looks even more remote that the midfielder will earn an appearance for the City Ground outfit before the end of the season.
