Nottingham Forest have been handed an injury boost, with the news that Craig Westcarr does not require surgery.

The young striker has been nursing a knee ligament injury and it had been suggested that surgery would be the only course of action.

The club's medical staff have concluded that a period of rest followed by some intense physiotherapy will rectify the problem.

However, manager Joe Kinnear has been told that the striker is unlikely to be available for selection this side of Christmas.
