On-loan Newcastle defender James Tavernier is keen to extend his stay at Rotherham United.

The 21-year-old joined the Millers from the Magpies on loan deadline day and has already shown his worth, scoring on his debut and slotting in at both right-back and left-back. He has helped Steve Evans' men ensure they will enjoy their Christmas dinners in the play-off places and is eyeing staying at New York beyond January. "It's been great, the gaffer and the lads have been really, really welcoming so I am enjoying it," he told the Press Association Sport. "Nothing has been spoken about extending it yet, that comes down to Newcastle and Rotherham to hold talks but I am just here every day and aiming to work as hard as I possibly can in every game that comes my way. "If there was an option I'd be delighted to stay, I have settled in really well and have been made to feel really welcome and it's going well."
