Bristol City manager Derek McInnes offered an extraordinary explanation for Steve Davies' stunning goal in the 1-1 draw with Millwall.
Lions goalkeeper David Forde raced out of his area to head clear a long ball which Davies headed straight back into the net from a full 35 yards out.
Despite Darius Henderson levelling matters 10 minutes later it was Davies' goal that remained the talking point after the match.
"Steve has metal plates in his head from previous injuries," McInnes joked. "That's how he generated the power find the net from so far out.
"Actually he is a lad with great ability. I can't recall seeing a goal quite like that before, although I think Derek Johnstone once scored a similar one for Rangers from about 25 yards.
"Millwall battled hard for their point, but we missed two great chances in the second half when Albert Adomah and Steve Davies missed the target.
"Had either one of those gone in I think it would have been a different story. But we have to be more resilient when defending crosses."
