Defender makes move until the end of the season

Newcastle defender James Tavernier has joined MK Dons until the end of the season in his third loan move of the campaign. The 20-year-old, who earlier in 2011/12 spent time with Carlisle and Sheffield Wednesday, will link-up with St James' Park colleague Alan Smith at Stadium MK. Newcastle have inserted a clause in the loan which allows them to recall Tavernier at an any point after the first month of the move, if required. Unfortunately for MK Dons, the deal has not been completed in time for Tavernier to on Tuesday night make his debut in the League One match against former club Wednesday. On Sunday, former England international Smith joined the Dons on loan from Newcastle in a deal which is also to run until the end of the season.
