Bristol City skipper thrilled to sign new deal

Bristol City skipper Louis Carey has signed a new one-year contract to remain at Ashton Gate. The 34-year-old endured a host of injury problems last season - including a fractured skill - but will be hoping to lead City's charge in the forthcoming campaign. Speaking to the Robins' official website, he described his joy at committing to the club for another 12 months. He said: "There wasn't too much negotiating and it was just a case of both sides agreeing little things. "I would have taken another six months or a year contract, in the end the latter. It would be great if all football was like that because it keeps everyone on their toes and working hard for a new deal." Speaking about his injury problems, Carey added: "I was a little bit messed up for a while but after the summer off I'm ready to go again now. "We want to get a good pre-season under our belts, keep everyone fit and hit the ground running from the opening game."
