James McCarthy is one of three fresh call-ups to the Republic of Ireland squad to face Brazil at the Emirates.

McCarthy, Cunningham and Wilson all included for Brazil test

Wigan teenager James McCarthy is one of three fresh call-ups to Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland squad for next week's friendly against Brazil. The 19-year-old Latics midfielder has earned his first senior international call-up after impressing at the DW Stadium since his summer move from Scottish side Hamilton. Manchester City defender Greg Cunningham, 19, also received the call despite featuring just twice for his club this season ahead of the Republic's first match since their controversial World Cup play-off exit to France. 22-year-old Portsmouth centre-back Marc Wilson completes a trio of first-time call-ups as Trapattoni's men play Dunga's South Africa-bound side at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium next Tuesday. There was no first-time inclusion for Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, however, despite impressing in a bit-part role for the Toffees since the turn of the year. Perhaps the biggest shock was Trapattoni's decision not to include in-form Hibernian striker Anthony Stokes, who has 15 goals in all competitions for the Scottish outfit this term. Squad: Shay Given (Manchester City), Keiren Westwood (Coventry), Joe Murphy (Scunthorpe); Richard Dunne (Aston Villa), Stephen Kelly (Fulham), Kevin Kilbane (Hull), Kevin Foley (Wolves), Sean St Ledger (Preston), Paul McShane (Hull), Marc Wilson (Portsmouth), Greg Cunningham (Manchester City); Aiden McGeady (Celtic), Damien Duff (Fulham), Darron Gibson (Manchester United), Glenn Whelan (Stoke), Keith Andrews (Blackburn), Stephen Hunt (Hull), Liam Lawrence (Stoke), James McCarthy (Wigan); Kevin Doyle (Wolves), Robbie Keane (Celtic), Shane Long (Reading), Leon Best (Newcastle).
