Oldham capitalised on the postponement of Scunthorpe's fixture to reclaim leadership of the division courtesy of a 1-0 win at fellow promotion hopefuls Swansea.

A tight encounter at The Liberty Stadium saw John Sheridan's side emerge victorious through striker Paul Warne's 32nd minute goal.

Elsewhere, Darren Anderton scored a hat-trick as Bournemouth climbed out of the relegation places with an emphatic 5-0 win over Leyton Orient.

Marc Wilson gave Bournemouth the lead in the 10th minute, before Anderton rolled back the years.

Anderton doubled his team's lead in the 16th minute and then added two more strikes (47 & 53) to complete his hat-trick after half-time, with James Hayter rounding off the win in the 68th minute.

Nottingham Forest got back to winning ways courtesy of Julian Bennett's 66th minute goal which gave Colin Calderwood's team a 1-0 win over Northampton at The City Ground.

Yeovil came from behind to record an impressive 4-1 win at Carlisle and consolidate the team's bid for promotion.

The hosts took the lead through Joe Garner's first goal for the club two minutes before half-time, but were pegged back within four minutes of the restart by Wayne Gray.

Leon Best gave Yeovil the lead in the 72nd minute and then scored his second goal as the match entered injury time. Chris Cohen added his team's fourth goal four minutes into time added on.

Brentford maintained their recent resurgence with a 1-0 win over 10-man Brighton.

Jo-Osei Kuffour gave the hosts the lead in the 31st minute. Kerry Mayo saw red for The Seagulls a minute after the restart and The Bees saw out the match to give themselves further hope in their bid to beat the drop.

10-man Bristol City were grateful to Lee Johnson's 88th minute goal salvaging a 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher gave the visitors the lead in the 52nd minute and the hosts were facing an uphill struggle when goalkeeper Adriano Basso was dismissed for a professional foul.

Chris Greenacre's sixth minute goal saw Tranmere keep up their play-off charge with a 1-0 win over Doncaster.

Gillingham were also one-goal victors over a Bradford side reduced to 10 men by Kelly Youga's 42nd minute dismissal. The hosts were quick to exploit their numerical advantage and claimed their winning goal through Leon Johnson (49).

Poul Hubertz's 85th minute goal saw Millwall home to a 2-1 win over Chesterfield. Darren Byfield's 10th minute opener had earlier been cancelled out by Paul Hall (58).
