Goalkeeper Steve Phillips has crossed the Bristol divide to join Bristol Rovers from arch-rivals Bristol City.The former Paulton Rovers custodian has left Ashton Gate to join The Pirates for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year deal with the League Two club.
Phillips is expected to become Rovers' new number one - ahead of fellow keepers Scott Shearer, Ryan Clarke and Steve Book.
The 28-year-old had been transfer-listed by City after Phillips fell behind Brazilian keeper Adriano Basso in The Robins' pecking order last season.
Rovers first team coach Paul Trollope was pleased to snap up the experienced Phillips.
"We've been talking to him for a while now, because we just felt that we needed another goalkeeper in the building," Trollope told the club's official website.
"Scott Shearer had a very good game tonight and I felt he deserved a clean sheet, but a club the size of Bristol Rovers needs two goalkeepers, and that is what we've now got.
"Steve is a quality player, he has played a lot of games for Bristol City at a higher level, so we believe we have a good addition to our squad."
