Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown is confident defender Bradley Orr will commit his future to the club next week.
The 23-year-old has established himself as a fixture in the side over the last couple of years, having arrived at Ashton Gate from Newcastle in the summer of 2004.
The Robins believe Orr has done enough to warrant a new deal and Lansdown feels an agreement will finally be rubber stamped this week.
"Bradley did well at right back during the second half of last season and is a key part of the plans for next year," Lansdown told the club's website.
"His progress has been such that we felt it right to offer him a two-year deal which Bradley is due to sign some time this week.
"In fact, the only reason the deal has taken so long to complete is that the player has been away on holiday."
