Bristol City chief executive Colin Sexstone believes the League One club will not make a third offer for Bournemouth striker James Hayter.

The West Country club have already made two offers to their League One rivals for the sought-after 26-year-old, with Cherries chairman Peter Phillips having rebuffed both bids.

With manager Sean O'Driscoll having previously valued Hayter at around the £1 million mark, Sexstone believes the Ashton Gate will turn their attentions elsewhere to land new faces before the January transfer window closes next week.

"We have submitted two separate bids - sizeable sums that we consider to be fair - but unfortunately, Mr Phillips believes we have not met his valuation," Sexstone said.

"I don't think we will come back with another offer, but that's for the chairman (Steve Lansdown) to decide.

"We have other options and potential targets."
