Mansfield and Yeovil are battling it out for Bristol City defender Kevin Amankwaah.

Amankwaah is currently on loan Yeovil and the League Two leaders are keen to make his move permanent after impressing at Huish Park.

Mansfield have also expressed an interest in the 22-year-old and have made a bid for the player.

Bristol City have accepted both bids and the player will now decide who to join after holding talks with both clubs.

"We've accepted both bids and given Kevin the option to speak to both Yeovil and Mansfield," said City chairman Steve Lansdown.

"If either deal goes through we will receive a nominal fee, while there is also a sell-on clause agreed.

"It's now down to Kevin and the two clubs involved."

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson remains hopeful of keeping Amankwaah at the club.

"We would like to keep Kevin here at Yeovil and are in negotiations with the player at the moment," said Johnson.

"He is one of my spinning plates and we are hopeful."
