Bristol City manager Danny Wilson has drawn up his retained list following the club's failure to win promotion to Division One.

The Robins fell short at the last hurdle on Sunday as a Leon Knight penalty saw Brighton & Hove Albion take the last promotion place in the Division Two play-off final at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

The West Country club have offered new deals to seven squad members while deciding to release five players - including journeyman striker Tony Rougier.

Lee Peacock, Aaron Brown, Joe Burnell, Matthew Hill, Craig Woodman, Mickey Bell and Louis Carey have been offered fresh terms by the Ashton Gate side, with contract talks set to take place in earnest.

Christian Roberts and Mike Stowell have had clauses in their deals exercised to keep them at the club for next season while trainees Craig Loxton, Ryan Harley and Joe Anyinsah have all been handed professional deals.

The five players shown the door are Rougier, Marvin Brown, Scott Brown, Darren Caskey and Lee Matthews.

Both Rougier and Caskey arrived on transfer deadline day with fan favourite Scott Murray, but The Robins have decided the pair are surplus to requirements for next season in Division Two.
