Watch out Beadle's not about

COLCHESTER UNITED boss Steve Whitton has confirmed that he wants to bring Bristol City striker Peter Beadle to the Essex club.

The Robins had rejected a previous bid by the club to sign the player, but Whitton has confirmed that he is still monitoring Beadle`s situation.

He told the U's official club website: "We have had Peter on our list of wanted players for some time now.

"We made a call earlier in the season to see if we could get him on loan, but Bristol had other strikers out injured."

He added: "With Lee Peacock coming back on Saturday, we asked Danny Wilson again about the move, but Peter is currently injured.

"For the moment it's no go, but we'll keep our eyes on him.

"He's a big lad with the sort of physical presence we've been looking for."

The journeyman striker can list Notts County, Gillingham and Port Vale amongst his former clubs and his combined total transfer fees are now in excess of £1 million.
