FORMER Wolves keeper Mike Stowell has informed Bristol City that he will make a decision on his future by the end of the week.

The 36-year-old was released from Molineux at the start of the summer, and has been offered terms by the Ashton Gate club.

However, a number of other teams, including Walsall, are tracking the veteran, and Robins chairman John Laycock believes his club face stiff competition in the race for his signature.

"Mike already lives in that area, which is likely to be a major consideration," Laycock said.

"We have made him the best offer we can and must wait for him to make up his mind, which should be this week."

City boss Danny Wilson is keen to bring in Stowell as competition for Stephen Phillips, as he is still without the injured Billy Mercer.
