Iron boss fears the worst

Brian Laws accepts Scunthorpe will be relegated if they fail to lift their performance levels in their remaining four matches.

The Iron occupy the last relegation slot on goal difference, level on points with the team immediately above them, Oldham, following Saturday's dismal 3-0 defeat at Preston, for which Laws apologised to the club's fans after the game. "If we perform like that then we have no chance," Laws told the club's official website. "The evidence is there and if we repeat that performance then I think that the fans will be absolutely right. "Saying that, the players that we have are good enough, but it has to come from ourselves." Laws said only two or three of his players showed any fight at Preston, while the others all hid from the action. He added: "I know the pressure on the game was immense, but the manner in which we have gone down on Saturday hurts me and that performance will give me several sleepless nights. "Personnel changes are not going to be great because what we have is what we have."
