Madden a match made in heaven

Yeovil striker Paddy Madden said he has regained his form and confidence since his move from Carlisle in January.

Madden, who was loaned to the Glovers back in October before making the move permanent last month, has scored eight goals in the last five matches to bring his total to 16 for the season. The 22-year-old is now joint-top scorer in League One, level with Ipswich loanee David McGoldrick, and has helped Yeovil up to seventh in the table, five points off top spot. "Confidence is a massive thing for a striker. If the goals are going in then you're on a real high," he told BBC Points West. "I'm feeling fit now and I've got 16 goals in 20 games so I'm buzzing." Manager Gary Johnson also recognises what an important acquisition Madden has been for his side. "He's the bargain of the season. He's the only one we've paid for and it wasn't much," he added. "Carlisle weren't using him and Paddy is a confidence player. We saw him play a couple of times and were willing to take a chance on him for a month. "He did well and we tried to keep it a secret. When it came down to it, Paddy wanted us as much as we wanted him."
