Laws hails Collins influence

Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws has hailed the impact of Michael Collins as they continue to move away from the drop zone.

The former Huddersfield midfielder missed a year of action through tendonitis before returning to action in October. An ankle injury forced him into another five weeks on the sidelines before finally returning to full fitness in December and he has since made himself a mainstay in the side. "I think Michael has been at his most consistent, and that is not only due to his hard work and determination but also because he's had a run of games as well - which he's needed," Laws told the club's official website. "Having been out so long, he has come back and shown what a good player he is. He is important to us and if he wasn't in the side we would definitely miss him, so that tells you how big a player he is. "I think we all agree that a Michael Collins on form is a very, very good player. Without a doubt, his best position is central midfield and that is where he is more effective." He added: "He breaks a lot of the play up and also has a key pass in him. He likes to get forward but always tries to support the defence as much as the attack."
