Laws sees scale of Iron woe

Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws now knows the full size of the task in front of him after the Iron's 4-0 FA cup loss at Gillingham.

The teams went in goalless at the break but in the second period the Gills ran riot, Matt Fish, Deon Burton, Danny Kedwell with a penalty and Adam Birchall all notching for the home side. But despite the reversal Laws, who only took over at Glanford Park at the start of the week, insisted there were some positives to take from the result. "It was a game of two halves. I thought we looked comfortable in the first half, we looked organised and looked in good shape," he said. "I said it was important that we kept that balance right, and that the first goal was always going to be important. They got that first goal, and the confidence drained from the players. They lost their discipline, they started chasing and we fell apart in that second half.
