Slocombe targets play-off push

Scunthorpe goalkeeper Sam Slocombe has targeted the play-offs, urging his team-mates to aim high and achieve success next season.

The Iron suffered a relegation hangover at the start of the last campaign following relegation from the Championship and coupled with a series of injuries to key players hovered above the relegation zone in League One for long periods. But a strong finish to the season has convinced Slocombe that Alan Knill's side will be challenging at the top end of the table. "Realistically this season the play-offs are not out of our grasp," Slocombe told the club's official website. "If you look back at last season we were rarely outplayed. "We had a record number of draws and a lot of times the odd goal here or there and we would have won the match." Slocombe added: "Had we converted half a dozen of those draws into wins we would have been in the play-offs."
