Peterborough-bound defender Shaun Brisley admits he is leaving Macclesfield with a heavy heart.

The highly-rated 21-year-old made the last of 142 appearances for the Silkmen in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Morecambe ahead of his move to the Boro. Brisley initially joins the Championship side on an emergency loan before completing a permanent move at the end of the season. "All I know in football is Macclesfield Town," he told Macc's official website. "I've been here since I was 12 and come through the ranks while at school in the town. They are my hometown club and it is going to be a wrench to leave. "I'll miss the club and also the players here. We have a great bunch of lads here and I've never moved clubs before. "But I'm really looking forward to the the challenge of the better opportunity I have now. Testing myself against better players in the Championship can only improve my game. I have ambitions to play at the highest level, so I can't wait to get started, whist also being very sad to be leaving Macc."
