Midfielder cuts loan spell at Grimsby short

Nicky Featherstone has cut short his loan spell at Grimsby Town in order to return to parent club Hull City. The midfielder rejoined Grimsby in January for another month's loan, but has not featured in the club's last League Two games. He asked Neil Woods if he could end his stint at Blundell Park, with the Mariners boss understanding the 21-year-old's reasons for wanting to go back to Hull. Woods told the Grimsby Evening Telegraph: "Nicky has asked to go back and Hull have taken him. "It's disappointing for us, but I can understand he wants to play and hadn't figured in the last two games. "He's Hull's player and they are entitled to have him back, but I would have liked him to stay because he would have got used. "There are no problems with the player or between the two clubs, though, he just didn't feel he was going to play as much as he'd hoped."
