Defender excited by ambition at Glanford Park

Scunthorpe United have signed David Mirfin on a three-year contract from League One rivals Huddersfield Town. Mirfin has moved to Glanford Park for a fee of £150,000 plus add-ons, with Huddersfield also to receive 25 per cent of any future sell-on fee. The defender had spent his entire career at Huddersfield, but believes he has joined a club which is going places. "Stan Ternent, my boss at Huddersfield, told me of their interest last week and I came down straight away to meet up with Nigel Adkins and discuss the move," Mirfin told the club's official website.

Delighted

"This club really wants to go places and after hearing what they had to say I wanted to sign as soon as possible. "I'm delighted to join an ambitious club like this, which wants to win promotion from the division. "Speaking to the manager, he sold the club to me and I want to be part of what they're trying to achieve here. "He said he wants to develop me as a player and I'm excited about what lies ahead."
