Defender seeks better deal

Marcus Williams has told Scunthorpe United they must increase their new contract offer if they want him to stay at Glanford Park. The 22-year-old Iron defender's agent insists Williams is happy to remain with the club, but that the latest deal "does not represent League One football". "I think in the next couple of weeks he's going to make his mind up with what he wants to do," Nick Rubery told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "As has been the case with Marcus over the last couple of years there's always been interest in him, but the ideal situation is for him to be happy where he is right now and sign a new deal. "But that's up to Scunthorpe to come up with the right offer. That's what Marcus is waiting for really. The offer on the table does not represent League One football." Meanwhile, acting chairman Rex Garton has confirmed Burnley have not yet followed up their interest in striker Martin Paterson with a formal offer.
