Nottingham Forest extended their lead at the top of League One to five points with a 1-0 victory over nearest challengers Bristol City.
Nicky Southall (pictured) broke down City's resistance after just nine minutes and Forest managed to hold onto their lead until the final whistle.
Yeovil beat Oldham 1-0 at Huish Park to move above Bristol City and into second, with Terry Skiverton grabbing the goal a minute into the second half.
Scunthorpe continued their good form with a 1-0 victory at Bradford. Billy Sharp scored the all-important goal after 79 minutes.
High-flying Tranmere were on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat at Carlisle, with Kevin Gall (35) on target for The Cumbrians.
Port Vale also lost ground on the leading pack after being stunned by two late goals against Huddersfield.
Leon Constantine (33) netted his ninth League One goal of the season to fire Port Vale ahead, before Andy Booth (77) and Michael Collins (79) secured a 2-1 win for The Terriers.
At the bottom, Leyton Orient recorded a vital 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers Cheltenham.

Rotherham kept up their recovery from a ten-point deduction with a 3-1 victory at Bournemouth, which also spoiled Kevin Bond's first home game in charge of The Cherries.

Brentford and Gillingham shared four goals at Griffin Park, with Michael Flynn (26) setting The Gills on their way and then grabbing a second half equaliser (74) after the home side had come from behind through Matty Heywood (36) and Calum Willock (45).
Brighton looked on course for victory against Northampton when Jake Robinson struck (39), but James Quinn (84) equalised for The Cobblers late on.
Shaun Barker's last minute winner secured a 2-1 victory for Blackpool at Crewe. Nicky Maynard (67) had earlier levelled for Dario Gradi's side following Andy Morrell's goal in the third minute.
In the day's final game Doncaster beat Chesterfield 1-0 courtesy of Jonathan Forte's effort on 24 minutes.
