Peter Beagrie could be set to play on after being handed the backing of Scunthorpe boss Brian Laws.
Laws is keen to keep Beagrie at Glanford Park and is ready to offer him a new deal.
40-year-old Beagrie has made over 30 appearances for Scunthorpe this season and Laws revealed the former Everton and Manchester City man is not considering retiring.
"When the time is right I will sit down and talk to Peter about a new deal," Laws told Radio Humberside.
"Although he is not as quick as he was, he has the ability to turn games.
"He is not looking to retire and I feel he has one more year of playing left in him."
