Scunthorpe United have been boosted by the news that Steve Torpey will not be out of action for the remainder of the season.
Iron boss Brian Laws feared the striker could miss a huge chunk of the season, but the striker has only injured his hamstring and has not damaged ligaments.
Torpey will undergo an exploratory operation to reveal the extent of the knock and Laws is crossing his fingers.
"That is good news for us as I thought I might lose him for the rest of the season," Laws told the club's official website.
"The fact that is not as bad as first is pleasing for us because it looked very serious."
If Torpey has not torn his hamstring then he will face a two-month stint on the sidelines, but if he has then he will be out for around 12 weeks.
