Andy Parton has signed a new contract with Scunthorpe.Andy Parton has signed a new contract with Scunthorpe, while Michael Rankine and Nathan Stanton are expected to follow suit in the near future.
The 21-year-old striker was expected to head to Stalybridge Celtic after they agreed a deal with Parton, but the move was shelved when the Conference North club were informed they would have to pay for his services.
The move prompted Parton to return to the negotiating table and he quickly agreed the terms on offer.
Iron boss Brian Laws is delighted with the developments and expects him to make an impact next term.
"Andy has now signed the one-year contract we offered him here and I am just hoping he can put all this behind him and settle down again," said Laws. "He has been here since the age of 14 and we did not want to lose him."
Laws rounded on Stalybridge for the way they treated the striker.
"Andy has done nothing wrong," added Laws. "The only people to blame for what has happened this summer are Stalybridge.
"Their actions have been disgraceful.
"They can't afford him, won't pay anything and have torn up the contract they were offering him.
"They have got their fingers burnt and made themselves look very foolish."
Striker Rankine and defender Stanton have also verbally agreed new deals and will sign on the dotted line when reporting back for pre-season training next month.
