Laws still keen on MacLean

SCUNTHORPE manager Brian Laws has confirmed that he still wants to bring Rangers striker Steve MacLean to the club before the start of the new season.

The 21-year-old has already played in a pre-season friendly for The Iron and Laws (pictured) is keen to invite him back to Glanford Park to have a second look at what he can do.

He told the club's official website: "I'm hoping to bring in MacLean from Rangers for another look at him on Tuesday. We are looking at taking him on loan until January 1.

"He played and scored for Rangers in midweek and we have already spoken to him and they have confirmed that they are still interested in letting him come here.

"If we get him it would be a great signing for us and provide competition for the players up front.

"I believe a deal can be done before the start of next season and that is what we are trying to do over the next 48 hours. I think if the lad turns up on Tuesday then there is a fair chance the deal will go ahead."
